Good things to know
A little knowledge goes a long way — a few patient-education notes from our team.
How often should I see the dentist?+
For most people, a check-up and cleaning every six months keeps small problems small. We’ll tailor the interval to your needs.
How does Invisalign work?+
Invisalign uses a series of clear, custom aligners that move your teeth gradually — each set shifts teeth up to about 0.25 mm. After digital scans and a 3D plan, you wear each set 20–22 hours a day and change them on schedule, with check-ins every 6–8 weeks, then a retainer to hold the result.
Are dental X-rays safe?+
Dental X-rays use a very low dose of radiation and are considered safe; we only take them when they’ll help your diagnosis, and use protective shielding — including for children and during pregnancy.
What is fluoride varnish, and is it safe?+
It’s a protective coating painted onto the teeth — quick, painless, and safe for any age (even babies). It’s usually reapplied every 3–6 months; we’ll suggest leaving it on a few hours and avoiding hot or hard foods right after.
What can I do about dry mouth?+
Dry mouth can come from medications, some medical conditions, dehydration or tobacco. Staying hydrated, using saliva substitutes, sugar-free gum and regular check-ups all help — tell us your medications so we can advise.
How should I brush and floss?+
Brush twice a day for two minutes with a soft brush at 45° to the gumline, and clean between your teeth once a day. If dexterity is an issue, a floss holder, water flosser or interdental brushes work well.
